It’s no surprise to my family and friends that I love cats. I am a cat lover through and through, in fact, I think I must have been a cat in a former life because I feel that connected to them. I will share a few bits of helpful information this month for our cat pet parents. For now, here’s some background on my personal connection with cats.
People who don’t like cats just don’t understand them. I have friends that came to like cats after meeting my Siamese cat Moka (R.I.P). He was one of a kind. I mean, they all are, but there was a special bond between us. We knew each other so well and could read one another. But I guess that’s what happens after 20 years together. I knew when to pet him, when to leave him alone, when he wanted attention and when he was not well. There were very few people in my life that I entrusted his care to when I had to be away, and they were all professionals. So when I am pet sitting someone’s beloved cat, I know just how it feels to be anxious and worried that they’ll escape, or not get a medication they require, or fed the wrong food, or not given enough attention. I get it. My cat was my whole life. There wasn’t anything I wouldn’t do for him and his care.
Cats are natural healers. The sound of purring is soothing, the little biscuits they make with their paws is comforting and cute. They have special needs, but are fairly independent compared to other pets. We’ll get into more details later about cats, like what not to have around cats, best practices and what questions to ask someone when you are looking for a pet sitter for your kitty.
